Controlling the swine flu by preparation is important. Because most experts predict many problems from a severe pandemic.

Use your imagination, what do you think will happen when 6.8 Billion people all realize that a Worldwide DISASTER is STARTING?

First, generally, panic and confusion will be universal and people will be in a state of shock not knowing at first what to do. Then after reality sets in, they would obviously try to come up with a plan to CONTROL THE SWINE/BIRD FLU and survive this horrible disaster. This terrible scenario could occur next week. The mixing of the swine flu and the bird flu could create this nightmare. The bird flu kills 60% of those who catch it and the swine flu is super contagious. If you add these traits together, we would have problems. If this happened, everyone in the world would compete for the same products and services. Demand would outpace supply almost immediately and people would not be able to get the products they need at any price. This simple fact could cause many unnecessary deaths, extreme pain and major anxiety.

Do not ignore the Importance and Benefits of Preparation

Ok, the swine flu pandemic is here. We must all be on guard in case the swine flu mutates to a much more deadly form. This could happen with or without the help of the bird flu. The great part is preparing for it will bring peace of mind and confidence. You will be able to sleep at night instead of worrying all night. Use your imagination and think about some of the challenges you and your family might face. Below are a number of situations and suggestions you can take to handle each situation.

Expect the interruption of usual
services we all depend on

Expect the interruption of usual services we all depend on like those services provided by health care facilities and hospitals and, restaurants, government offices, banks, telephone and cellular phone companies, and post offices.

Transportation services could be interrupted and believe me do not take public transportation because it will be one of the easiest ways to catch the virus. Plan to take fewer trips and store essential supplies.

The local grocery stores will close or have limited supplies. I have put together a checklist that will help you keep track of the items that you need to manage without these services.

There will be a ban on public gatherings such as concerts, movies, sporting events, volunteer meetings and worship services and Marshall Law could rule. Prepare contact lists including telephone numbers, conference calls, and email lists, to get or give out necessary information.”

Do not expect to do much traveling
by car due to fuel shortages.

In case you cannot communicate with them in an emergency talk to your family about where family members and loved ones will go and how they will receive care.

Expect temporary shut downs of banks and ATM's. Many companies will not take credit cards so it would be a good idea to keep a small amount of cash or travelers checks in small denominations for easy use.

Infections will affect as much as half the population. Infection of the population will run much higher than normal seasonal flu infections. This is because no one will have immunity to the pandemic flu. This of course means that a substantial percentage of the worlds population will require medical care. No countries have the hospitals, staff, beds, and facilities to handle a mass number of people sick all at the same time.

Antiviral drugs and vaccines are the best way, other than prevention to fight the swine/bird flu. There will not be enough vaccines to go around. The world Health  Organization recently  reported that next year they expect to have 3 billion vaccine doses available. the problem is we have 6.8 billion people on earth.

The most effective treatment to this date for people who catch the H1N1 swine flu virus is the oral antiviral medicine Tamiflu (oseltamivir) and prophylaxis.

IF YOU CAN GET THIS DRUG, right now I would do it. Physicians use it as soon as possible when infection starts to partially control the virus.  However, getting the drug will be the biggest problem. Don't order it over the internet because there is a lot of fraud taking place with this drug.

There are a few problems with its use because supplies are limited to treatment only instead of treatment and prevention. Also, because the virus will mutate quickly there is a good chance that it could become less effective as the virus continues to develop.

Deaths could occur in large numbers

High rates of sickness and people not going to work to beat getting the flu will be common. Many people will flat not go to work and this will cause economic and social disorder. A severe flu wave  will cause shortages of products and services. Many products and services will still exist but on a limited unpredictable basis. In addition, the prices for specific products and services if still available will be higher.

The national and local governments of the world all want people to prepare. The government obviously realizes that they will not be of much help during a pandemic, remember Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, and that means that we all must realize that we are on are own.

"Responsibilities of the individual and families include: Keeping supplies of materials at home, as recommended by authorities, to support essential needs of the household for several days, if necessary." White House document, National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza (NSPI)

"Where appropriate, use governmental authorities to limit non-essential movement of people, goods and services into and out of areas where an outbreak occurs." White House document, National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza (NSPI)
This statement refers to quarantine situations.

"Individual citizens should be prepared for an influenza pandemic, and be educated about individual responsibility to limit the spread of infection if they or their family members become ill." (White House document, National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza (NSPI)

Working will be risky or impossible during the height of Influenza wave activity. Different kinds of businesses will be more workers friendly. You need to determine if the company you are working for and the industry will flourish or be very difficult to work in during the pandemic. Questions that need answering are as follows:

1. Will your job require that you are in close physical contact with many people daily? If it does, you have a problem.

2. Is there a possibility that you can telecommunicate from home, access remote networks, and use portable computers?

3. Is it possible that the staggering of shifts could lessen your risk of infection?

4. How will you compensate or prepare for a possible loss of income during temporary work stoppage?

5. How do your employers plan to continue during a pandemic?

6. Talk to your employer who has a plan for a pandemic about leave policies and how much leave is available to take care of sick relatives.

Expect Schools and Day care Centers not to be open for an Extended Period. This is to limit the chances of children spreading and to prevent them from catching the flu. You need to plan now about how you will handle these situations. A number of other school related events would also probably not be open. They include clubs, sports/sporting events, music activities, and school meals. These closings would likely happen very early in a pandemic and could occur on short notice. Its important that you become pro active and communicate with school officials about their plans for the pandemic and your desire to help. School closings will probably occur along with other closings of public gatherings, such as at malls, movie theaters, et cetera.

You know how easy it is to get bored, especially children, so talk to school officials about continuing your children's education. Ask about activities and exercises that you could monitor at home. Find out what lesson plans to follow that would keep them on track. Also, do not forget about obtaining learning materials like books, computers, movies, et cetera.

The Most Effective Technique For Beating The swine Flu Virus is a Ruthless and Complete Quarantine for the Duration of
T
he Pandemic.
This is of course impractical for most considering the pandemic could last up to 2/3 years. The next best solution is a partial ruthless quarantine where the breadwinner goes out to work between intense influenza activities. The rest of the family would stay in their ruthless quarantine at home. The breadwinner would stay in an isolation room every day during the time when the authorities said it was ok to be in public. They would go out into the public only to work and get necessary provisions. That person would stay in that room for at least one week after being in the public.

Continuing your children's education will be a major obstacle to this plan. However, I believe that there will be enterprising professionals who will offer continuing education for your children on the internet, phone conferencing, et cetera.

You must remember every family member that goes outside the quarantine increases the chance the virus could invade the family.

Don't wait until the last moment to plan for the disruption of medical care for people with chronic illnesses. It is essential that you communicate with your health care provider about access to your medications. The coming pandemic will probably be intense and will mean the hospitals, doctors and nurses will be unavailable for large amounts of time. People with a chronic disease, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, or depression, should continue taking medication as prescribed by your doctor. Also, make sure to have the proper medical supplies available like glucose and blood pressure monitoring equipment.
